HOMAGE

These works are born out of a passion for the ceramics of my late husband, Richard Fairbanks.
They speak of a time of our earlier collaboration.

Each effort begins with his photographs of his art, some produced at Finlandís famed Arabia factory.
Others from the remarkable body of ceramics and sculpture he produced over next two decades.

The paired images of international architecture, sculpture, and folk art
were found in Richardís campus teaching archive after he was gone.
Another resource are photographs when he placed his work in natureĖ
a heart plate in a snow bank, Baltic tower sculptures on a wooded hillside,
favorite flowers filling powerful but surprisingly simple vases.

In his final years Richard photographed individual pieces against backgrounds
in the brightest clearest color palette.
My compositions simply embellish his compelling ceramic art with materials gathered worldwide
over four decades.

The final result is a heartfelt and very personal statement of
a man, his art, and our continued connection.
